Playtone Productions Announces Three New Projects

In conversation with THR, Tom Hanks' Playtone Productions have announced they will produce Major Matt Mason, American Idiot and American Gods. Playtones next project, Major Matt Mason is to be in 3D, a live action family film space adventure based on a Mattel action figure, with a tentative budget of over $100 million and Robert Zemeckis in talks as possible director. American Idiot is to be a screen version of the Broadway muscial adapted from the Green Day album. Michael Mayer directed the stage version and will also direct the screen version following the success of Playtone’s Mamma Mia. American Gods will be an HBO series, slated for six seasons, based on the book by Neil Gaiman.
