Thor 2 gets new director?

Since Kenneth Branagh passed up the opportunity to direct the sequel to his Thor, Marvel and Disney have been hunting a replacement, and according to Empire Brian Kirk is in early talks. Kirk's background has thus far been mainly in TV working on shows such as Dexter, Boardwalk Empire and more recently Game of Thrones. Thor 2 already has a release date of July 26th 2013 set with Chris Hemsworth set to reprise the role.
